Course overview

The SuperCHANNEL Advanced Course is designed to build on participants' existing knowledge of SuperCHANNEL.

Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on labs, participants will be exposed to SuperCHANNEL's full capacity. Participants will gain the experience essential for creating more flexible and efficient SuperSTAR databases.

The SuperCHANNEL Advanced course covers the following topics:

  • Reviewing and extending SuperCHANNEL skills
  • Appending, updating, and deleting records
  • Building an SXV4 database from multiple source databases
  • Using the SNU command line
  • Configuring SuperCHANNEL
  • Understanding the SuperCHANNEL XML Project file format
  • Introducing SuperCHANNEL Registry tables
  • Implementing multi-response fields
  • SuperSTAR database build best practice
  • Building from a Textual Data Definition source (optional)
  • Working with cubes in SuperSTAR (optional)

Each student receives a course manual and a lab book. These can be used as reference guides after the course is completed.

Prerequisite skills

For this course we strongly recommend that participants have:

  • attended the SuperCHANNEL Introductory Course or have significant experience with SuperCHANNEL
  • knowledge of Microsoft Windows basic concepts and functionality, such as dragging and dropping objects and using menus and toolbars
  • knowledge of database concepts such as definitions of tables fields, primary keys, and foreign keys.
