John Ellenberger will be running the Self-serviced Business Intelligence workshop. The workshop is in the IT & GIS Integration Track.
There is a global trend in both government and the private sector to base decisions on data. Evidence-based decision making is driving the demand for access to data by non-technical users. The investment made by organizations in GIS can be leveraged to meet this demand.
The key to successful decision making is giving users in these sectors the tools to enable them to be self-sufficient in terms of data access. For notice users to unlock GIS, the interfaces need to be easy to operate, preferably browser based, fast to respond, have in-built data navigation facilities, and include features to prevent or at least minimize the opportunity for users to make mistakes.
This workshop will investigate the ways in which GIS can assist organizations deliver Self-Service Business Intelligence to their internal and/or external users.
