Data Experience

The DataExperience allows users to create combinations of data fields in the data selection area, which are then visualized in a coordinated set of tabs with predefined visualization components.

Visitors to your company’s website will click on a  link and from there access the SuperVIEW application.

Users are able to select topics of interest from a set of pull down lists.

Note the capability to expand and collapse additional selection criteria. This allows advanced users to choose from more options. Field combinations that are not permissible can be excluded. The field selection will be greyed out.

After selecting their criteria, users will see tabular information, together with the relevant metadata links, footnotes and other information.

A metadata metadata-icon icon is located  next to fields that hold metadata. A tooltip displays when a user moves the mouse over it.

The metadata tooltips can hold URLs which link to further information as appropriate.

Different visualizations are shown as separate tabs. Visualizations include line charts, bar charts (stacked/non-stacked), column charts (stacked/non-stacked), and pie charts.

If requried the data can be visualized on thematic maps. On the map display, each region will be thematically colored based on selected values.

The map engine will use Google Maps  / ESRI Maps, which has the advantage of providing access to a rich background map.

After the information displays, users will be able to interact with it by ticking or unticking data items. The chart will be updated instantly without interaction from the server.

feature2

If required users will be provided with a number of options for exporting the View:

  • Export the View to PDF
  • Export the table within a View in CSV format
  • Export charts and maps in PNG format

From this the user will be able to print the results, or copy parts to their own document.

Static information pages and links

With the use of the information icons within the application, core information on specific fields and field values can be kept as close as possible to the data within the actual application.
Users can see essential information immediately, without the need to open up additional browser windows or documents.

For further information and explanatory notes, URL links can be included in the core information tooltips that take the user to the additional documentation where appropriate.

Branding

All web pages will contain your branding logos and use the fonts and colors of the current web site.

Data Experience in action

"With SuperVIEW, STR has ensured that our data is even more accessible. We have received positive feedback from channels that we had not previously engaged with."
