Blog: ABS release CDATA Online for the 2006 Census

By Stanley Devia

I received an email today from the Australian Bureau of Statistics announcing that they have released CDATA Online for the 2006 Census of Population and Housing.  If you interrogate Census data as frequently as I do then this is a very welcome announcement.  In fact it’s quite a big deal.  Users can now create their own customised tables, maps and graphs of any data collected from the 2006 Census at all geographic levels.  Tables can be downloaded in Excel or CSV format while maps can be saved as PDF.  Registered users can even save their settings as they work.  All from the comfort of your own browser and for the amazing, low, low price of FREE.

Thank you, ABS.  Pure awesome.  And extra credit for making it multi-platform.  Safari and Firefox users can enjoy the goodness too.
