A primary goal of the Center is the integration of historical, social and natural science data in a geographic information system.
“The ESRI Census Summit is of particular importance to the international community as National Statistics Offices (NSO) plan for the upcoming 2010/2011 population and housing census,” said Mr. Ellenberger. “We appreciate the opportunity to participate in this summit and discuss census best practices with organizations such as the United Nations Statistics Division and United Nations Population Fund, National Statistical offices as well as government leaders and ESRI industry partners
“Internationally the demands by more sophisticated census of users, the ‘Prosumers’ – consumers of official statistics and producers of analysis, is beginning to be recognised” said Don McDougall, CEO of STR. “This summit brought together key leadership in the GIS global community to discuss these issues and to help governments and NSOs understand the scope and breadth of self-service business intelligence and GIS solutions available for their census planning activities. We look forward to a continued discussion with the international community on this important topic.”
